A Practice With Roots in Adrian

We're a locally owned, community-rooted mental health practice. This is our home. These are our neighbors.

We started as a community coming together to heal. We've grown into a practice — but the heart of it hasn't changed.

Our Story

The Healing Project began as a small group of survivors choosing community as part of their healing. It didn't have a name, the members simply knew it as group. The support and connections found there brought more healing and love than any of them could have imagined.

It was Heather (pictured with her guinea pig) that knew it could be something more. She gave the group its name and its heart. Her vision was clear: survivors shouldn't just heal in private. They should tell their stories, on their own terms, as part of their recovery and as a way to teach the community how to show up better for the people they love. Because of her, The Healing Project began bringing that message everywhere it was needed, presenting to educators, universities, police departments, detectives, and countless others across Lenawee County and the surrounding areas.

As the work grew, so did the groups. What started with teens and adults expanded to include children as young as four, meeting more of this community where they were. In 2026, The Healing Project took its biggest leap yet, opening as an independent licensed practice in a landmark Victorian building in the heart of Adrian.

Our next goal is establishing a nonprofit arm to expand access to mental health care for those who need it most. Because this community deserves more, and we're committed to building it.

Our Team

Michael Mohler, Lead Therapist

Having retired twice already, Mike somehow still shows up for work ready to support each survivor that walks through his office door (and water his ten-thousand plants). Relationship focused therapy has been his go to for decades, and it's why his clients love him so much.

Tori Slone, Clinical Director at The Healing Project

Tori Slone, Clinical Director, Owner

Tori keeps the practice and her clients together. She doesn't look like your average therapist because she's not. Whether it's working with survivors or educating the community, her unique personality is as evident as her passion and care.

Sydney Foster, Director of Marketing and Operations at The Healing Project

Sydney Foster, Director of Marketing & Operations

On top of working with survivors, Sydney also specialises in the neurospicy side of life. If you struggle with ADHD, Autism, OCD, or tech, she's definitely your go-to. Some say her office is the comfiest around.

Johann Jeremiah, Clinical Therapist

Johann brings warmth and humor to every session. Before deciding on therapy, he thought of being a nutritionist and brings his expertise in health to his clients. He believes in hard work and the power of a day on the beach. Or a week. However much time he can get, really.

Kiera Konz, Administrative Assistant & Mike's Keeper

If you contact the main office, she's likely the one you'll reach. Keeping Mike in line and the snacks stocked are Kiera's top priorities. Right after she gets her beauty sleep.

Tracie Friedley, Billing Specialist

The only one we really trust with the numbers. Tracie is the person behind the money magic, from coordinating with insurance to payroll. We definitely makes sure she gets her snacks and has a comfy chair.
